Improvements in financial conditions, and implementing advanced technologies in the metallurgical industry of Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan, have boosted demand for crane equipment, primarily, for special traveling cranes intended for heavy and extremely heavy-duty conditions. The time has come when manufacturers of hoisting equipment cannot meet current demand. This challenge can be resolved by combining manufacturing and research efforts.

Therefore, we have created a Scientific-and-Production Corporation "Interpodyomtransmash", which incorporates leading machine-building enterprises, and development and design (D&D) institutes in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus whose core business is crane development and building.

Within the framework of the corporation, the Kharkiv Hoisting and Conveying Equipment Plant, which has a 75-years' background in designing and manufacturing hoisting and conveying equipment, is the production unit of the corporation. The plant is increasing its output annually. In so doing, output has been increased by updating the range of hoisting equipment, and commercial development of special traveling cranes with a hoisting capacity of over 100 tons. We have brought to a commercial level the production of pratsen-cranes, crab cranes, and casting cranes with a hoisting capacity of up to 140 tons. In 2004, we delivered the first passenger ropeway (after a long break) for a Ukrainian customer who will install it at a mountain-skiing resort in the Carpathian Mountains. At an annual increase in production volume of 1.4 - 1.6-fold, output of new-generation hoisting machinery in the total volume accounts for 44 - 48 %.

The scientific potential of our corporation is represented by D&D Institute "Prommekhanizatsia" (former Ukrainian Branch of SDDI "Soyuzprommekhanizatsia" that is the designer of cable cranes and passenger rope-ways; and D&D Institute "Ukrmashstankoproekt" (former Institute "Ukrgipromash") that executes development projects for enterprises of the machine-building complex of Ukraine. Corporate member - the Belarus enterprise "Dvesta", executes development, production, and upgrading of electric drivers for hoisting cranes.

Delivering completing articles and selling the products in Russia and Bulgaria is the task of corporate members - enterprises "Belgorod Hoisting and Conveying Machine Building Plant" and "Bulgarian Hoisting Structures".

The quality of products manufactured is assured by implementing the Quality Assurance Management System as per International Standard ISO 9001:2000 with regard to production, reconstruction, rehabilitation, installation and servicing of HCE. Corporate member - enterprise "Pod'emservis", services equipment throughout the entire life cycle of the product. We also carry out technical diagnostics work and activities focused to prolonging the life of hoisting-and-conveying equipment whose standard life has expired.
